Work+ with Spirit EMS
The Wright State Work+ Program, in partnership with Spirit EMS, provides college students the opportunity to earn a valuable EMT certification, gain paid employment, and receive tuition support while pursuing a degree through Wright State.
Tuition Benefit
Students who meet all program and employment requirements may receive employer-paid tuition for one academic year at the Wright State in-state rate, valued at up to $7,500.
To remain eligible for employer tuition payment, students must:

Maintain a minimum C average in all classes

Fulfill all academic, employment, and scheduling requirements outlined below

Training Information
Class Schedule:
-
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
-
In-person instruction, five days per week
-
Program start date: May 11, 2026 to June 19,2026 at our Celina station, 316 Portland St., Celina, Ohio.
The EMT training program runs for six weeks.
Employment & Program Requirements
-
Successful completion of the six-week EMT training program
-
A commitment to 2,080 total hours of employment with Spirit EMS
-
College students, depending on course load, must commit to working a minimum of 24 hours per week (two shifts)
-
Opportunities to work more than 24 hours per week may be available if the student’s college schedule allows
-
Students may also work additional hours during semester breaks and summer and winter breaks, based on availability and operational needs
-
The minimum weekly work commitment is required in exchange for the 2,080-hour employment commitment and eligibility for tuition reimbursement

Completion of required assignments and lessons outside of class
-
Completion of 16 hours of mandatory clinical time (uncompensated)
Scheduling Expectations

Scheduling is flexible to accommodate academic responsibilities

Students must have set, reliable blocks of time outside of their class schedule available for work

7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Compensation & Benefits
-
Starting pay during training: $13.00 per hour (paid while in class)

Pay upon EMT certification: $16.00 per hour

Additional earning opportunities:

Special event shifts paying up to $30.00 per hour (primarily during summer months)

Perfect attendance raises

Students may be eligible to earn up to 7 college credit hours
